Receipt Printing

Operators can print a token slip after check-in and can reprint the same operational details from movement history. The mobile app supports common ESC/POS thermal printers over Android Bluetooth Classic (SPP), Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and supported USB connections.

Selecting A Printer

  1. Open the printer selection screen and allow the Bluetooth permissions requested by the operating system.
  2. Select an already known printer or scan for a nearby device.
  3. If the app cannot confidently identify a BLE device as a printer, select Show all nearby devices and choose the device manually.
  4. Confirm the connection before printing the token slip.

Bluetooth broadcast names are not a reliable way to identify thermal printers: rebranded hardware can advertise an OEM code or another generic name. The app therefore uses protocol and device-class hints to prioritize likely printers without permanently hiding unknown hardware. Previously paired devices are treated as intentional selections.

Only use Show all nearby devices when the expected printer is missing from the initial results. The expanded list can include phones, computers, and unrelated Bluetooth accessories.

Token Slip Contents

The slip contains operational check-in information, including:

  • check-in code and timestamp
  • company, location, and cooling-unit identifiers
  • cooling-user name and identifier
  • crop names
  • crate tags and check-in weights

The printed crate identifier is the operator-facing crate tag, not the crate's internal database ID. If no tag was assigned during check-in, the slip prints Not set.

Printing from movement history follows the same rule and uses the crate tag stored with the historical check-in.

Troubleshooting

The printer is not listed

  • Scan again with the printer powered on and nearby.
  • Check that the required Bluetooth and location permissions are enabled for the app.
  • For BLE hardware, select Show all nearby devices and look for the printer's broadcast name or OEM code.
  • For Bluetooth Classic printers, pair the printer in Android settings first, then return to Coldtivate.

The printer connects but does not print correctly

  • Confirm that the selected paper width matches the printer (58mm or 80mm).
  • Verify that the hardware supports ESC/POS commands.
  • Disconnect and reconnect the printer before retrying.
  • If the printer produces partial or malformed output, try the alternative Bluetooth transport supported by the device.

A crate shows Not set

No operator-facing crate tag was recorded for that crate. Not set is intentional and prevents an internal database ID from being presented as a physical crate label.
